Noah And The Whale - The Last Night On Earth (Review)

what could have been from Noah and The Whale can now expect? After performing on "Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down" from 2008 that nor bribed with a mix of grinning with over both cheeks Tweepop songs and more refined Folk Songs, in 2009 deeply sad with the separation album "The First Days Of Spring" a significant maturation in the direction of guitar-based folk-rock show and then left their drummer, the band and their equipment for 2 months was reported missing, probably everything - a good half hour of synth and drum machine-driven ode to the life i had not thought of.

And I certainly was not the only one. I go so far as to say that this album as it is, no one expected. To think up something like synth-folk is a pretty absurd idea. While one that is easily passed pop songs, at times also extremely cheesy like "LIFEGOESON" listen, one wonders yet what the target group could be mentioned here ... the same can be thought of almost every song that they become a hit like "5 Years Time advance. This was 3 years ago, certainly not many expected.

The opening track "Life Is Life" would be necessary to shorten here for only the intro and you would have a song with handclaps, group singing and the chorus line "And it feels like / this new life can start / And it feels like / heaven " creates an overwhelming happy mood. And the chorus does the same even two times, if "LIFEGOESON" Fidel then first installed, they are already sounding as if they had never done anything. With all new features but you can still hear perfectly that this Noah And The Wghaloe can play. In its typical Melodiefuehrung and the voice of Charlie Fink can never be doubted, even if they have just about everything around it changed. The 4th Song, "Wild Thing", but again does some things differently or better again as the predecessor. The song itself is again a slower and worn guitar folk-rock song - almost remains the electronic base and lets this song nor the adjective Fan Plaesing to.

changes between these two poles of the album back and forth, "Just Me Before We Met" is waiting with great cooperation between Fidel and synth and "Old Joy" is an anthemic piano / synth ballad singing in the chorus almost the Gospel can be. After you came so behind the novelty of this record, here is expecting a truly diverse, a happy folk recording. And though this album is not bad, since the same time still room for improvement. The emotional depth of the music as lacking a bit. But after the first experiment it was with this new sound, because one can certainly expect a lot.
